At 20 years of activity, ProCredit Bank launches ProGreen Anniversary, the green account dedicated to individuals who want to contribute to a sustainable environment

Bucharest, October 18, 2022: ProCredit Bank launches the first green current account package for individuals. Strategically named ProGreen Anniversary, in the context of 2 decades of banking activity in Romania, the new product offers customers the certainty that their financial activity will not support projects that have a negative impact on the environment.

ProGreen Anniversary is designed for individuals who want to contribute to the development of a sustainable economy and who understand that the money in their accounts indirectly contributes to the financing activity that commercial banks carry out.

By cashing in ProGreen accounts, customers exclusively support the bank's green loan portfolio, which at the end of Q2 2022 exceeded 22% of total outstanding loans. The portfolio covers relevant projects such as investments in renewable energy, energy-efficient machinery and equipment, sustainable housing, sustainable production and agriculture or investments in recycling industries.

All of these are assessed against clear criteria by ProCredit Bank teams, who apply detailed analysis methodologies designed to estimate both the environmental and social consequences of each project over a longer period of time, prior to applying for loans.

"Fifteen years ago, ProCredit Bank was one of the first commercial banks in Romania to choose the path of sustainability. Since then, our commitment to ethical, green banking policies has grown stronger and stronger, and today, green banking is part of ProCredit's DNA. Rounding out our banking offer with a green current account for individuals is a natural and necessary step that reinforces our position as a bank focused on the sustainable development of society. With the new anniversary package, we are making a firm commitment to both our customers and the environment. Each ProGreen account will contribute to the development of the green loan portfolio, with the funds circulated through them being allocated only to sustainable projects. Our main goal for ProGreen is to get to the point where we can support green lending exclusively from the volume of funds generated from these accounts. With the launch of the ProGreen package, the bank closes the circle of sustainability and appeals to both its clients and the general public to join the activities to support the environment by using truly sustainable financial services," said Ștefan Manole, CEO of ProCredit Bank.
