At an event organised by ProCredit Bank to offer A step forward for business performance, the bank launches a new type of loan for SMEs wishing to contribute to environmental protection

On November 20, 2014, at an event in Bucharest entitled “A step forward for business performance”, ProCredit Bank launched its new ProEco loan, a credit service dedicated to investments that contribute to environmental protection.

By taking out a ProEco loan, SMEs can boost their performance and contribute to environmental protection at the same time.

The event attracted over 80 participants, including clients and partners of ProCredit Bank and specialists in the energy efficiency field.

The participants were able to discover the benefits of energy efficiency from representatives of high profile companies that have invested in improving their energy efficiency balance or that produce equipment with low energy consumption. The attendees listened to presentations by Ilinca Rosetti, General Manager of ProCredit Bank Romania, Aureliu Leca, Executive Director of the Romanian Association for Energy Efficiency Promotion, Ioan Păuț, Technical Director of SC Elba SA Timișoara and Ana Maria Giuran, Product Manager of SC Elmas SRL Brașov.

This event took place in the context of the ProCredit group’s strategy to apply ethical, social and environmental standards to all of its activities. The introduction of “green finance” in October is a logical continuation of ProCredit Bank’s existing business model, through which it promotes development by supporting SMEs with a complete package of financial services, by taking a responsible approach to banking, and by engaging in transparent communication.

Ilinca Rosetti, General Manager of ProCredit Bank Romania:“The bank’s new strategy is part of an environmental management system implemented throughout the ProCredit group. Within the bank itself, measures have been taken to reduce the consumption of resources, like paper, electrical energy or fuel. The first steps in this direction were taken more than two years ago, with the aim of reducing our impact as an institution on the environment. Environmental management is also an important part of the bank’s lending policy. Ever since the beginning of our operations in Romania, we have systematically monitored our loan portfolio to ensure that our clients’ activities are in accordance with current environmental standards. The present launch of ProEco, a new type of credit for projects that contribute to environmental protection, is a logical extension of that strategy. Moreover, we strongly believe that the investments we are promoting with this loan can contribute to business performance through increased productivity, higher efficiency and a greater competitiveness in the market.”

ProCredit Bank specialises in supporting SMEs, and is the only bank in Romania under 100% German ownership. It has a network of 28 branches and agencies covering the main cities of the country, and serves a wide range of business clients as well as private individuals.
